ROYALTY
Payment of royalties to authors is only made for books in the following publishing categories:
1. Academic Imprint
2. Popular Scholarly Writings
3. Monograph
4. University Textbooks
5. School Textbooks
Royalty Rate and Payment
Royalty rate is calculated based on the nett sales given by the following formula:
15% x nett sales (for sales of up to 1,000 copies)
20% x nett sales (for sales of 1,001 copies and above)
Printed book:
Nett sales = (retail price – discount average – delivery cost) x number of copies sold
Electronic book:
Nett sales = nett sales received from electronic book aggregator
Payment of royalty will be issued one (1) year after the book is published, and after the royalty amount reaches RM100.00 for local author or USD50.00 for international author. If the amount of royalty has not reached the stated value, the amount will be carried over to the following year. Author will be notified of the royalty amount through given email and mailing addresses on a yearly basis until the seventh year after the book is published. Throughout this period, author/editor is responsible to notify the University (through Penerbit USM) if there are changes regarding email and mailing addresses.
